They blend the stiffness of a performance road shoe with the rugged toughness of a mountain bike shoe. It's one for the racers out there. A Heart of Carbon With their super-stiff carbon sole, the XC9 shoes deliver rapid acceleration straight off the start line. And once you're on the go, the incredible power transfer lets you maintain speed as you tackle sharp uphills, accelerate hard out of berms and drop your rivals as you speed across technical trail features. Meanwhile, if you're off the bike and running or pushing, the ULTREAD™ sole comes into its own. Lightweight but durable and grippy, this keeps you sure-footed on loose ground, mud and over rocks. Extended rear lugs give extra confidence on downhill slopes while the wide-spaced tread also prevents mud from clogging up the shoe and disrupting easy pedal entry. Shimano Dynalast The improved Shimano Dynalast design improves the fit and feel of the XC9s but maintains the superb support and stability it's renowned for. A 360-degree surround upper hugs the foot, offering a stable pedalling platform for efficient power transfer throughout your pedal stroke. It also sees an optimized toe-spring section that ensures efficient and powerful pedalling with a reduction in foot fatigue over long distances. The toe box shape has also benefited from further refinement and the improved design now offers comfort to a wider range of foot shapes. To the heel, an anti-twist heel cup and glass-fibre reinforced heel stabiliser work seamlessly together to resist flex and instability during your higher power output efforts. Function Specific Zones Borrowed from the RC902 road shoe, the XC9s utilise the same functional-specific zones to enhance foot stabilisation and minimise energy loss. This sees both non-stretch and flexible materials deployed in key zones, giving you the very best in foot stability, perfect venting, minimal weight and the aforementioned minimised energy loss when pedalling. Dual BOA® Li2 dials When it comes to a precise fit, the twin BOA® Li2 dials give you the ultimate in quick and easy control. Micro-adjustment for both tightening and loosening ensure you get the fit just as you want it every time you ride. And as feet swell in the heat or you want to tighten up for a sprint, you can make quick adjustments on the fly. The Li2 dials also benefit from an improved construction to aid durability while also being lower profile to enhance aerodynamics.
