The design for the original crank brothers pedal began out of frustration. The founders of crank brothers, Carl and Frank, were tired of getting stuck in mud-covered pedals with no way in or out. They realised that existing pedals were too complicated It started with a simple question: what is the best way to attach a shoe to a crank? To answer this question, Carl and Frank created a system with only two moving parts hinging on a spring. This system became known as the eggbeater pedal, and later it was adapted into the candy pedal. When fitting cleats to your shoes its crucial that they are set in the right position as they play a big part in your riding performance. As the main point of energy transfer its critical that they are set up correctly because if they are not power and performance will be lost as well as riding comfort being compromised which could result in injury for the rider.Most riders when fitting new cleats will spend time measuring and fine-tuning to get the cleats directly under the balls of the feet, and then go on a test ride, fine-tune, and pedal some more to find the optimum angle for the cleats, which can all add up to a lot of time.
