The Campagnolo Chorus EPS groupset takes a great deal of its DNA from its mechanical counterpart as it represents a more accessible version of Campagnolo performance, quality and attention to detail but delivers it in the laser-like precision package of an EPS drivetrain. The shifting performance of the Chorus EPS groupset is exactly the same as its lighter weight siblings, Record and Super Record, making for a transmission fit for professional racing. Shifting even under heavy load is no problem for the Chorus EPS transmission and mud, grime and debris have met their match against such powerful motors. The EPS rear derailleur is comprised mainly of a mechanical structure, derived from the mechanical gear and composed of a derailleur rod/parallelogram/derailleur cage, of a worm screw enabled by an electronic actuator. As with the derailleur, the electronic rear derailleur actuator is composed of a gear motor and a sensor, the built-in resolver, that reads its movements. The geometry of the parallelogram has been made more rigid and optimised to promote interaction with the electronic parts. The rear derailleur is also equipped with a play recovery system using a helicoidal spring that optimises stability and precision and keeps operation and performance constant over time, even after many kms have been covered. As with the mechanical rear derailleur, it is possible to optimise its position with respect to the frame and chain by acting on two adjusting screws: the screw that adjusts the mechanical end stop and the screw that adjusts the distance between the upper pulley and sprockets. By using these screws it is possible to optimise the installation of the rear derailleur and increase the precision of its operation. DTI: Digital Tech Intelligence is housed inside the Power Unit and it continuously monitors the signals that arrive from all the EPS components, thus managing their operation. Multi-Shifting There are no longer any limits to multi-shifting and the choice is at the fingertips of the cyclist. Ride back home The uncoupling mechanism of the rear derailleur is useful if the battery runs out ""on the road"", allowing you to manually ""uncouple"" the rear derailleur to position it on which ever sprocket you require. It's extremely powerful motors are capable of producing levels of torque without rival in electronic shifting which guarantee precise and effective shifting no matter the conditions or circumstances. Shifting even under heavy load is no problem for the Chorus EPS transmission and mud, grime and debris have met their match against such powerful motors. With an IP67 waterproof rating on the entire system rain gear is only necessary for the cyclist, not his groupset. The dérailleur is composed of a mechanical structure with dropout and a series of electronic parts. The outer Dérailleur Rod held in place by a double-finned pin that passes all the way through to increase rigidity. The System that links the dérailleur to the frame is made of aluminium co-pressed with the engineering polymer of the body of the dérailleur. This creates optimal solidity and rigidity ensuring that the dérailleur maintains a correct position with respect to the frame. The core of the dérailleur is composed of an electronic actuator; in turn composed of a gear motor with a built-in resolver that uses Magnetic Hall Sensor technology (as the sensor is not in contact it is not affected by the vibrations generated by the terrain, and is therefore always precise). The gear motor was developed in partnership with a Swiss company that produces electric motors used in missions to Mars. The actuator is also equipped with a ""cascade gearbox"" which allows movement to be transferred in an exact and rapid manner. AUTOMATIC CORRECTION: Compared to the traditional mechanical derailleur that could be adjusted with micro displacements made by acting on the levers manually, the EPS dérailleur is equipped with a very sophisticated electronic AUTOMATIC POSITION CORRECTION system. The Potenza 11™ front derailleur boasts an upper body that has a design nearly identical to that of the Super Record mechanical model complete with longer arm to ensure less effort required to derail to a larger gear. One of the only differences that can be immediately seen comes in the form of the newly developed one-piece steel cage with a similar shape to the Super Record version. Potenza 11™ is similar in design yet incorporates different materials to ensure derailing performance on par with Super Record.
The Potenza rear derailleur takes a great deal of inspiration from the recently launched Revolution 11+ drivetrains and guarantees a similar degree of shifting performance as a result. Changing only the materials used in its construction, the Potenza 11™ rear derailleur is capable of shifting with the precision and speed of the Super Record version with the only compromise coming in the form of weight. In addition to the form and structure of the component Embrace Technology, introduced on the Super Record, Record e Chorus groupsets launched last year has been incorporated into the performance of the Potenza 11™ rear derailleur. The form of the external pieces allow the rear derailleur to move at a different angle and the internal design pulls the chain closer to the cassette. This translates into better power transfer, more secure grip, better chain/cassette interface and a longer life for consumable components. The chain will grip more teeth (when compared to rear derailleurs without Embrace Technology) and as a result disperse energy across a larger surface area, increasing the life of the cassette and lengthening the lifespan of the chain as well. By allowing the derailleur to work closer to the cassette in every position the athlete can now take advantage of perfect alignment between cassette and rear derailleur in any given gear.
