Additionally, the sustainable FUTURELIGHT™ membrane is incredibly waterproof and breathable, ensuring feet stay dry and fully ventilated at all times, while OrthoLite® X55™ footbeds lend cushioning and a leather upper adds durability for day-long wear. The heel is also reinforced for protection on rocky trails, and 4mm lugs hold firm on uneven terrain. What is FUTURELIGHT™? Unlike conventional membranes, the nano structure of the FUTURELIGHT™ membrane allows air to pass through for better venting and breathability without sacrificing water-resistance and durability. This nano-fibre structure has enabled The North Face to create its most lightweight, breathable, and sustainable membrane to date. An ultra-thin, nimble membrane that feels just as comfortable and provides the protection needed against the elements in the harshest environments. The production method for FUTURELIGHT™ also uses less chemicals and water than traditional methods.
