Fizik Cyrano R5 Road HandlebarThe Cyrano R5 is the entry-level handlebar from Fizik. It is made from 6061 anticorodal aluminium that makes it incredibly lightweight and great at reducing road vibrations. It offers the ability for riders to incorporate the flexibility of Fizik's Spine Concept system at a lower price point.Just as your choice of Fizik Spine Concept saddle shape is guided by your degree of spinal flexibility and subsequent pelvic rotation, Fizik offers this same Spine Concept guideline to help you choose your most comfortable road handlebar shape.The application of The Spine Concept to handlebar shape is the result of Fizik's research with riders of 3 UCI World Tour Teams that were riding Fizik saddles. A correlation was found between the saddle shapes each rider was using and the handlebar shape they were riding.The Snake Handlebar: If you have a very flexible spine (far less than 90 degrees between your straight legs and your back when bending over as far as you can, keeping your legs straight a shoulders' width apart), you are a Snake. You are better able to reach further and get down lower to use the full radius of more rounded, classic-style, and deeper-drop handlebars.You will prefer the Snake Handlebar because it has a longer reach and deeper, classic-style drop.The Chameleon Handlebar: If you have an intermediate degree of spinal flexibility (approximately 90 degrees between your straight legs and your back when bending over as far as you can, keeping your legs straight a shoulders' width apart), you are a chameleon. You are better able to reach further, but perhaps you can't get down quite as low on the handlebar drops as a Snake would be able to.You will prefer the Chameleon Handlebar because it has a longer reach but a shallower, more ergonomic-style drop.The Bull Handlebar: If you have a relatively low degree of spinal flexibility (more than 90 degrees between your straight legs and back when bending over as far as you can, keeping your legs straight a shoulders' width apart), you are a Bull.
