Don't be fooled by the title, Enduro have been producing bearings since before the word "Enduro" became fashionable, there bearings are an industry leading design and they set the standard for all other bearing manufacturers to match. You may be more familiar with the ABEC standards from the worlds of skateboarding and roller blades but Enduro have tailored their bearings for the specific demands of cycling. The entry level industry standard of a bearing is ABEC 1 but Enduro do not produce any bearing which comes in at less than ABEC 3, this means that even if you choose an entry level Enduro bearing it is of better quality than another manufacturers entry level bearing.These standard ABEC3 MAX bearings are designed for use within linkages on full suspension frames, they have 40% more balls compared to standard ABEC3/5 bearings which gives unparalleled levels of smooth linkage movement when the frame is compressed.
Shims are available in Aluminum and Thermo Plastic, despite the latter being a lighter solution its material characteristics limit the thickness of the ID - OD measurements. Aluminum is used to achieve the thinnest shims as it is a more robust material. Rolled Aluminum shim - the very thinnest shims are rolled from sheet metal. 25.4mm shims need to be so thin as they are etched down in acid to the correct tolerance and are too thin to anodise (show as silver). Machined Aluminum shim - machined to very high tolerances from 6082 T6 Aluminum and then black anodised to protect from corrosion. Machined Plastic shim - larger size shims are machined to very high tolerances from "filled" engineering thermoplastic UPVC. This keeps the weight down, as the shims get thicker.
