SmartGuard The most efficient protection belt there is for bike tyres, in other words: flatless. Solid, 5 mm thick layer of highly flexible special rubber provides permanent protection also in the case of embedded objects. Even thumbtacks are no problem for this tyre. Improved Rolling resistance The patented, 5 mm thick SmartGuard layer, when compared to all generic products, has a significant advantage in rolling resistance. We further extended its lead in the latest version. Also in the SmartGuard, we now use a proportion of recycled rubber from old latex products. RaceGuard This belt was developed specially with racing in mind. A synthesis of special India rubber and several layers of nylon fabric offers very effective protection against penetration punctures. There is only a minimal increase in weight and rolling resistance of these tyres.
Kevlar®Guard We have improved the well known Kevlar belt. This protective layer is stronger and safer but at the same time more flexible. This result in the protection level being higher and rolling resistance lower.
This tyres features: GreenGuard. The highly elastic, India rubber layer is 3mm thick. Other manufacturers call such a tyre "Plus". However, Green is not just the colour, but also the philosophy: One third of the GreenGuard is made up of recycled latex products. "Anti-Ageing". The completely new sidewall construction can withstand for much longer the typical cracking resulting from overloading due to insufficient inflation pressure. Also the new Endurance Compound substantially increases durability. E-Bike Ready. The new Marathon has been designed for use on all types of E-Bikes. The following sizes bear the ECE75 mark, suitable for the use on faster, up to 50kph E-Bikes.
This tyre features a diamond-shaped tread pattern for a fast roll, with a grippy side design which allows the braking to be as composed as can be. Plus, this version comes in enhanced with Schwalbe's GreenGuard technology, providing reliable puncture protection and making this tyre a fine fit for touring. Technologies: GreenGuard: Featuring a flexible rubber on a 67 EPI carcass on the classic Marathon tyres, providing exceptional performance and superb service-life.
This tube-only tyre gives a lightweight and reliable performance as you attack the asphalt, with its double compound construction giving ample support and strength on every journey. The RaceGuard fabric lies underneath the tyre tread to protect against slashes and punctures, with the 67 TPI nylon construction holding firm against stones, glass and other threats to your ride. Please Note: the 20x1.1" option has an ETRTO of 28-406. The spikes work best on ice when running at minimum pressure, while at maximum pressure the tyres can be ridden on ice-free roads with minimal road noise. Spikes F&Q's Can it also be ridden on a normal road? Without any problem, but if the road is only rarely covered with snow the resulting tyre noise may prove annoying. And it won't slide out in cornering? No. The spikes 'claw' really well into normal asphalt roads and even fast cornering is not a problem. Aren't spikes illegal? Bike tyre spikes are no problem. Only motor vehicles spikes are prohibited in some countries, because they damage the road. Fast E-bikes are however considered motor vehicles. Do the tyres have to be run in? In order to ensure that spikes are permanently fixed, tyres should be run in for about 25 miles on asphalt, while avoiding any fast acceleration or heavy braking. What is the lifespan of the spikes? All Schwalbe spikes have a core made of extremely hard wearing tungsten carbide, so they can cover a few thousand miles. It is normal for the spike edges to round off and for them to become more deeply embedded.
The revolutionary feature of this new puncture protection system is due to its 'super-ball' characteristics, The Smart Guard special rubber protection belt is so flexible that it has no effect on rolling resistance. In fact, whereas traditional puncture protection systems increase a tire's rolling resistance. The approximate 200 gram extra weight compared with the 'classic' Marathon is hardly noticeable in everyday use.
Boasting a Kevlar-infused K-Guard layer which strengthens the tyre against punctures and slashes, this Lugano model gives a super-protective showing as you tackle the tarmac. Designed with a minimal tread and encased in a Lite Skin carcass, the tyre maintains a low weight and even lower rolling resistance for a fast and focused rolling experience. Built from a Silica compound for impressive longevity and comfort, this reliable Lugano tyre is an ideal choice for the budding beginner road cyclist. Technologies K-Guard Puncture Protection: Made from natural rubber and reinforced with Kevlar fibres, K-Guard gives the protection standard for every tire from Scwhalbe's Active Line.
Featuring a protective K-Guard layer which uses a Kevlar material to fend off rips and punctures, this Lugano model works hard to keep you riding with confidence and composure.
