Dan Paley was fed up of breaking plastic bar ends but didn't want the hassle of screw in ones. That's when he came up with the idea of the M-Cap, a push in bar end with a metal surround. The part that hits the ground is metal as is the part between the bars and bar end. The best of both worlds.
A new dual material bar end from BSD, Similar to the BSD M-Cap it features a push on outer ring, the ring is made from a hard nylon the same used on BSD hubguards. It makes for a long lasting plastic barend.

The Volcano Barends combine the good things about aluminum and nylon options. Fly created a design with a durable CNC aluminum core and replaceable nylon rings. Since the rings are separate from the core, the bar end is able to use an extra tough nylon / fiberglass compound that gives them a long lifespan. From an ergonomic perspective this is a very good idea. In course of time however, as straight bars became less favoured and sales of riser bars increased instead, the bar ends slowly disappeared. Now however, as the rise of mountain bike bars has reduced again and instead the bars have become low and wider, bar ends make sense again. But with one small difference, we mount the bar ends inwards of the grips, so called Innerbarends, that is where the name with the slight contradiction stems came from.Innerbarends are a new innovative evolution of the good old bar ends we know from the early days of mountain bikes, but with a never-before-seen safety aspect. Despite the different hand position, the brake levers always remain in reach. The position somewhat resembles that of an aerobar.
