The advanced new compoundBased on activated silica compounds, this technology was originally intended as an performance level compound, but after intensive development at our Korbach Research and Development Department Facility, an advanced new compound with outstanding grip and cross-country properties was developed. This new rubber mix, given the self explanatory name “PureGrip”, is ranked just behind our BlackChili Compound and is being used in our performance products both in the road and mountain bike sectors. Whilst providing great grip, it is also long lasting and highly durable – both characteristics of Continental tires, which are exclusively manufactured in the factory in Hefei (Asia).
The Terra range has been designed with the gravel rider in mind, from back roads to bridleways this tyre always rewards effort with speed. Continental have ensured options are available to fulfill the needs of any rider as this new style of highly explorative riding continues to be defined. The Trail is the gnarlier of the two Terra variants which Continental offer. These tyres have been desgined with a raised shoulder tread to optimise cornering grip. The larger and slightly more spaced out centre line tread brings additional straightline grip and enables mud to clear the tyre more effectively. Continental offer the Terra range in two casing and rubber compound options. The top tier tyre features a ProTection 3 ply tuebless casing and the top secret 'handmade in Germany' Black Chili compound. The second option features a Shieldwall construction for preventing surface abrasion of the sidewalls and the durable Pure Grip compound which is proven in both road and off-road applications.
