This MTB rim features a 28mm internal diameter and it's constructed from a 6066 alloy, which makes it light enough for aggressive trail-riding as well as strong enough for DH. A.R.D uses closed cell foam’s technology to make a lightweight tyre insert which gives you a lot of protection. A.R.D will enable you to run lower pressures without getting flats and in turn assist you to increase your grip out on the trails. Keeping weight down was a key factor in the development of ARD, a 27.5” insert will weigh 130g. Rider Kelan Grant has been using the same A.R.D for the 2018 EWS season, this includes riding a stage on just the ARD as his tyre split. This MTB rim is made from a special blend of alloys, which give it a similar hardness to 7-series alloy but with the ductility and yield properties of a 6-series. This means that you will enjoy the best of both worlds as you carve your way around the mountain. Nukeproof has also equipped this model with a micro-shotpeened and anodised finish, which gives it an extra layer of resistance against wear and corrosion. As a result, you'll benefit from being able to shred the trails in all weather conditions, without worrying about the elements ruining your gear. Nukeproof has ensured that their front and rear rim profiles are the same but due to the rear rim being more likely to take most of the hits, they have used a thicker sidewall for added strength. The front rim has a thinner sidewall, which allows for excellent weight savings and a perfect balance between strength and weight. If you want some extra security, or if you want to save some more weight, there is no problem using a pair of front or rear rims. Nukeproof use a sleeved rim as this allows them to have full control over the properties of the alloy. When you weld a rim it is exposed to a large amount of heat which changes the properties of the alloy in the area around the weld. This change can lead to a weak spot in the rim.
