The inner core is composed of one steel thread surrounded by 6 threads making one strand. At this point, a simple strand or multi-strand cable can be produced. The composition of a single strand cable is (1+6) + 12 = 19 threads, and a multi-strand is (1+6) x 7 = 49 threads. Lasers have been set in place to increase production as well as to control the diameter on a permanent basis and in case of any anomalies stop the machine. Each laser sends out the information acquired to a central computer unit where statistics and analysis can be retrieved.
Super lightweight butyl tube, even lighter than latex but not porous, so no need to reinflate every day. Can also be fixed with a normal puncture kit. Shorter valve inner tubes are ideal for wheels with rim depths of 24mm or 30mm but are not ideal for wheels with rim depths of 40mm or above (as the shorter valve would not extend out of the rim valve hole). Presta valve tubes are most commonly used for road wheels (650c) and on a few MTB wheels as the valves are thin, whereas Schrader valves are more commanly found on MTB wheels as valve is larger and won't fit through 650c rim valve holes. 650c Wheel Sizing Be aware that when purchasing a 650c inner tube, tyre, or wheel from the Wiggle site that what you are buying is smaller than a more conventional road 700c inner tube, tyre, or wheel. Most road bikes nowadays come fitted, as standard, with 700c wheels (including inner tubes and tyres) and not 650c. A 650c inner tube or tyre WILL NOT fit a 700c wheel. Please read the 650c Wheel Sizing guide explaining the difference between 650c and 700c wheels. Based on ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation) dimensions, 650c wheels are smaller than 700c wheels by about eight percent. Tyre sizes tend to be printed on the sidewalls so please check before making a purchase.
