They start with Type.441 textile, a silky smooth fabric which boasts incredible moisture management, anti-odour and long term durability - all-in-all, a perfect cycling fabric. This new fabric is then carefully tailored using a brand new panel design to create an incredibly stable platform for the seat insert. Where their S7 shorts use four panels, the S9s reduce this to just two, lessening bulk, reducing seams and hence increasing comfort. The two panels form a unique 'butterfly' shape, wrapping around the legs snugly to form what Assos have named their ergoBox structure. It is this which keeps the seat insert perfectly positioned, whether you're in the saddle, out of the saddle, sprinting or climbing. rollBar Bib DesignAssos have also completely redesigned the bib straps on the S9. Just like an anti-sway bar on a car, the new rollBar design provides stability.
