The all new TR 309/289 XC wheelset is designed to push the limits of aggressive XC/Trail racing and riding. Thanks to a new low profile and wide channel rim riders will notice increased cornering speed, direct power transfer and improved compliance. The Reynolds TR MTN hubs provide 10° of engagement for quick power delivery. The TSS/PRR3 rim construction delivers industry leading impact resistance and durability with a lifetime warranty. The 309/289 XC features a 30mm internal width front rim paired to a 28mm internal width rear. Wider rims allow you to run lower pressure, increase traction and add precision to your steering. Reducing the rims profile to 21mm for improved overall compliance and comfort. With most of the rider weight and power on the bike being transferred to the rear, a 28mm wide rim paired to 28 spokes creates an ideal balance between strength, comfort and performance. On the front, the rim has been widened to 30mm to add even more steering precision and sidewall stiffness where it matters most. To maintain a similar feel to the rear, the spoke count has been decreased to 24 to add compliance and reduce weight for a more flickable feel while navigating the tight and twisty sections of the trail. PR3 used in Reynolds Allroads, TR S and TR mountain wheels takes this same approach balancing structural requirements with performance and value. For many years DT Swiss eschewed offering a carbon Enduro wheel for a simple reason; their alloy wheels were just so good that there was no sound engineering logic for offering a more costly option that offered limited advantages over DT's renowned Spline 1. However, with years of in-house carbon manufacturing and research now behind them, DT have now applied this experience to create a carbon wheel set that stands above all previous offerings. The new generation of 2.5 and 2.6 inch Enduro tyres demand ever wider rims whilst maintaining a level of impact resistance that is simply not possible in alloy without a huge weight penalty, enter the 35 mm EXC 1200. The EXC is by far the strongest carbon rim DT have ever made, with continuous strand lay-up construction for enhanced impact resistance, designed by DT, made by DT and tested to destruction by DT at their test lab in Biel, Switzerland, no open moulds here. What is the engagement angle, how does this angle affect riding performance and is the conventional wisdom the more the better really always better? The engagement angle is the maximum degree that the freehub body can rotate until the teeth of the freewheel system engage and accelerate the hub. This angle is calculated by dividing 360º by the number of engagement points of the freewheel system.
