Power to the Pedals With their glass-fibre reinforced midsole, the XC5 balance the need for optimal pedalling efficiency with value for money. Rated 6 out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness scale, this sole unit gets your hard-won watts to the pedals but with enough flex to take the buzz out of rough trails. A low stack height gets your foot closer to the pedal axle, improving efficiency and foot support still further. Shimano's ULTREAD™ compound also features. This sticky rubber sole, in combination with the grippy tread and lug pattern, provides a firm grip when you're off the bike and running loose and muddy terrain.
